Invitation to David Braid Sextet showcase concert

David Braid, although only 31 years old, has already become an important figure in Canadian jazz. His sextet was formed six years ago and has been twice nominated for Best Canadian Jazz Ensemble at the National Jazz Awards. The David Braid Sextet's recent CD, “Vivid”, was awarded a Juno award for Jazz Album of the Year. Braid, touted as one of the most gifted pianists and composers in Canada, has written over fifty works and recently unveiled his first orchestral piece with the Winnipeg Symphony. It blends jazz form, symphonic composition and improvisation.

Members of the David Braid Sextet represent some of Canada's most highly respected players: Terry Clarke, drums; Steve Wallace, bass; Mike Murley, saxophone; Gene Smith, trombone; and John MacLeod, trumpet.

This up-and-coming sextet will be touring in Asia, including a showcase in Tokyo. The Embassy of Canada is pleased to offer 10 pairs of tickets (20 people) for this showcase concert.
