Release of gChange,h a collaboration single by Monkey Majik and the Yoshida Brothers

Monkey Majik, featuring Canadian brothers Maynard and Blaise Plant, joined the ranks of top artists last year with their hit single, gAround The World.h They have released new collaboration CDs for three consecutive months. This time they collaborated with the Yoshida Brothers, players of the shamisen. Maynard became familiar with the instrument living in Aomori Prefecture as an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) with the JET program.

What kind of musical collaboration will rock and shamisen produce? We look forward to finding out!

This year marks the eighth annual Canadian Animation Festival. The special program will feature gGolden 70sh works from the National Film Board of Canada, of which The Danish Poet (directed by Torill Kove) won this year's academy award for gBest Animated Short Film.h The Canadian Animation Festival is being presented as part of the gForeign Art AnimationTollywood--Spring 2007.h

Prior to the official opening during Golden Week, we are offering 30 pairs of tickets to a sneak preview at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 10. Please apply by e-mail with your names, address and phone number no later than April 2. Ticket winners will be notified by e-mail.

Artist Jaret Penner was born in Winnipeg. In addition to creating artworks, he also plays in indie instrumental bands. His works exhibited at the Hainan Jeefan Shokudo in Roppongi use pastels and minimalist techniques to emphasize an imaginary world.

Canadian Music Week held in Toronto

Canadian Music Week celebrated its 25th anniversary this March and proved that the Canadian music scene is as vibrant as ever. Over 15 Japanese music industry representatives attended panels and showcases from March 7 to 10 in Toronto. Highlights included the induction of producer David Foster and hard rock group Triumph into the Hall of Fame at the Canadian Music Industry Awards.
