The Embassy of Canada will host Higher Education Fairs in Tokyo and Kyoto. Representatives from numerous Canadian universities and colleges will be there to talk with you. There will also be a booth with returnees from Canada who will share their experiences with you and offer tips on study in Canada. Those who attend the fair and fill out a questionnaire will be entered in a drawing with a chance to win a free round-trip ticket to Canada! In Tokyo, various seminars and a concert^talk by gDewh whose members have studied in Canada will be given in Japanese. Don't miss this big event! Those wishing to attend may register online or at the door. Admission is free.

The performing arts troupe Cirque du Soleil began in Canada. It now stirs and thrills audiences throughout the world, including Japan. The group's own permanent theatre, Cirque du Soleil Theatre Tokyo, will open at Tokyo Disney Resort® with the long-awaited premiere of ZED, an original show performed only there. Written and produced by François Girard, the world-renowned director of The Red Violin and other films, the show revolves around the adventures of Zed and transports us to a richly live and lyrical world.

Banff Mountain Film Festival, the world's premier film fest for documentaries on mountains and the outdoors, has been held for 33 years in the beautiful town of Banff, Alberta in the Canadian Rockies. The best of the prizewinning works are shown around the world, with interest in Japan growing every year. This year screenings will take place in seven Japanese cities. The tremendous impact of these documentaries about mountains, adventure, nature, the environment, and people will certainly delight all who attend.

Following the footsteps of many great Canadian artists, Elizabeth Shepherd has already been building a name for herself after her impressive set of appearances at the Cotton Club last year. After studying music in university, Elizabeth immersed herself in the music of Herbie Hancock which led to an interest in other forms of jazz, dance music and pop. This has formed the base of her unique style which is reflected in her latest album release entitled Parkdale.

2008 Juno Awards nominee for gRock Album of the Year,h The Saint Alvia Cartel from Burlington, Ontario, will release their self-titled debut album The Saint Alvia Cartel on Surf Rock Records. With their roots firmly planted in punk-rock, the band also draws inspiration from almost every genre out there: roots, rock and roll, blues, soul, dancehall reggae, country, new wave and hip hop. They recently toured with popular band, Bedouin Soundclash and also were invited to perform on the entire 2008 Vans Warped Tour.
